Mt. Hood Alpine Development comprises interested ski clubs and programs from Mt. Hood's racing community. The purpose of the Committee is to promote clear and achievable development paths for young alpine ski racers on Mt. Hood. This includes fostering a smooth, understandable transition for J4s and J3s up to the F.I.S. levels of ski racing, as well as providing an elite F.I.S. training program that respects and fulfills the needs of Mt. Hood's top elite athletes. The committee intends to consolidate and strengthen ski racing activity on the mountain, and to appropriately raise the bar for our J4, J3 and F.I.S. level athletes. Goals
While it is our full intention to ultimately support all ages of racing from 12 years old and up - it is important to the success of the program to establish goals that are achievable in the near term. As such - we have identified the 6 projects listed below as a good first step towards achieving our long term goals. These projects focus on primarily J3 level racers with an overlap of one year above and below. Developing a strong J3 group in the short term is what will build the stability and success of this effort up into the J2 and J1 programs in the future.
2005-2006 ProjectsNote: these projects are open to all competitors in the Mt Hood area. If you are a member of a participating club (listed below) - please contact your coach for more information. If you are not a member of a participating club - please inquire by emailing dan@gorge.net.
Participating ClubsMHAD is governed by volunteers from each participating ski racing program on Mt Hood. The current ski racing programs involved in this collaboration are:
While participation from each club is encouraged - if you are racing independent or on a club that is not on this list - you can still participate in any of the projects planned for the 2005-06 season. Please contact any one of the committee members if you would like more information. |
